| Through time, the rarely seen beauty of the tribes and traditions of the world are disappearing. RERUNN is a mission to preserve the values of the ancient generations through to the future generations by reinterpreting their aesthetic, meanings, and stories. In addition to the previous series inspired by the Surma tribe of Ethiopia, this year the ancient traditions of Japan are illustrated through ancient dances and walks of life. All characters wear delicate and flowing apparels with elegant movements. But more than just their appearance, they all share the same theme of “inner journey.” Each of them travels while carrying, blessing, and in search of peace and happiness. |

WHITE HERON
“Shirasagi-no-Mai” - the ancient White Heron Dance.She lands softly on to the snow ground. The traveler of air, earth and water brings good luck to the land. With her face covered, no one knows who she is – no one knows who has always supported them.
HIDDEN FACE
“Awa Odori” – the ancient Fool’s Dance.Like a ninja covering up his face ready for an ambush, a big straw hat covers her face ready for a dance off. She carries her own gigantic loudspeakers behind her, bringing music everywhere she goes. On the hot summer day, she dances and dances not caring about anything in the world, but look closely, her hand is chained to her shoulder… there is no absolute freedom.
SWEETS SELLER
After a long day of walking through the villages, he sat down for a rest. He has been carrying sweet cakes in the huge storage and delivering them to the children. His huge umbrella keeps him under shadow, but during the night he will light the paper lantern. His journey continues, with the constant rhythmic sound of his drum, signaling all those who are hungry.
THE PILGRIM
In absolute solitary, the pilgrim journeys through the burning heat in search of inner peace. Behind him, he carried a portable shrine which allows him to pray anywhere and spread his belief to those interested. The ever-spinning double discus on top of the shrine keeps away the bad intentions.
LOTUS VENUS
The birth of “The Boy on the Lotus Leaf.” He was born, standing on the huge lotus leaf, floating above water. He is the symbol of holiness and beauty.
DAYDREAMER
“The Boy on the Wooden Stilts” finally came down from his stilts which kept him off from the heated desert floor. He has reached a nearby village, feeling tired of finding somewhere he could feel like he belonged and can call it home…
THE HYOCRITE REVEALS
The elder oracle has finally shown his true form. Flowers on the mouth fell off, skull comes out of his mouth; no more hypocrisy… he now thinks evil and speaks evil. The ring of devilish mist floats around his presence.
THE PILGRIM’S JOURNEY
The devilish mist floats around the pilgrim as he journeys into the darkness, hoping to find a land of hope beyond.
INTO THE CITY
Large print of the “Boy on the Lotus Leaf” was put up on the wall in the city. Exploring the idea of lost, ancient tribes being here today in our big city. The sense of not belonging could resulted in many emotions such as loneliness or playfulness. This contrast of place and time will be explored more in the future.BKKIF ARTIST SPECIAL

The elder oracle has his head adorned by tree branch and vines which are filled with fruits of skull, a representation of the evil thoughts. But on top of them all, flowers grow to cover the lurking evil.
