Siamese Cat in Bangkok Style

As the new Bangkok CI is introduced and put to use at Siam, I would like to explore how Bangkok can be expressed in terms of modern Thai culture, the joys of traditional Thai culture, and animals. Thus, in this image, a Siamese cat—one of the luckiest cats in Thailand—is chosen from an ancient Thai book (ตำราสมุดข่อย) and paired with the contemporary lifestyle of Bangkok, where one must rise early to avoid traffic and the boisterous but industrious city people.

Ridgeback and Bangkaew

While Thai society has associated various Thai cat varieties by composing a poem about them, Thai dogs have only two breeds: Ridgeback and Bangkaew, one of which is associated with good manners and cunning and the other with fierceness, despite its appearance. And with this lively trait, two detective dogs are ready to wander the city of Thonburi (กรุงธนบุรี).

Thai Lucky Cat

Cats have always been deeply ingrained in Thai culture. Among the myths is the one about Thailand's fortunate cats. The blessings that the cat bestows upon their owner vary based on its pattern, some will be suitable for different people too. So, cats are depicted in this artwork with various themes related to Thai culture, applied art, and lifestyles, along with the idea of the various blessings they will give the owner.

Mystery of the Scratches

"One of the two detectives, Bangkaew, doesn't stop barking about the armchair he loves when they walk in. The noise is growing louder and louder even though Koawtam tries to find out what's going on and insists she doesn't know anything about the scratches on the chair.

It is a short event involving two Thai detective dogs and a mystery to solve.

Konja the Motorbike taxi No.13

Konja is one of the 17 remaining Thai lucky cats. Nonetheless, the black cat can be seen as unlucky in Thai culture because of the myths surrounding black magic (คุณไส) and evil cats (แมวปีศาจ). Fortunately, Konja has the opposite blessing—they are lucky to have friendships in every aspect of life, including the workplace—and because of their good fortune, they will always survive unlucky accidents.

Thai horse

Thai horses have been traveling along the Tea Road from Mongolia since ancient times, even though there is no historical or geographical record of horses coming from this area. After selling tea to many clients, they decide to move to the northern part of Thailand and stay there to continue their tea business.

Khao Manee

Khao Manee is one of the most well-known Thai cats in the Rama 5 era, but based on the old records of Thai cats in the Thonburi era, he hasn't been mentioned since. Khao Manee, who has two eyes, is also kind and polite. At the time, the upper class was primarily interested in him. Due to his fame, Khao Manee is also well-known in the Western countries he visits.

Blue Siamese

A Blue Siamese cat also bestows wealth on its owner. His birthplace, Korah, is also his other name and place where all blue Siamese cats live. This cat decided to settle in Bangkok and work as a train engineer, connecting Korah and Bangkok with a long train line that also helped increase Korah's tourism and economic value. And everyone who wants to travel to Korah can use this train line.

Lunch Break

“While there is a barking noise coming from the main building around the cat village, Ratanakampon (รัตนกำพล), one of the “lucky cats” decides to take a walk during lunch time and accidentally meets Mulila (มุลิลา) who is studying astrology under the tree.”

A sequel of Mystery of the Scratch, a short novel illustration of an event involving two Thai cats and a small accidental meeting.

Shepherd’s Plan

"Shera," a graphic designer employed at a well-known newspaper publishing company. She is then forced to resign from her position and see her goals and future collapse. However, a mystery entity presents her with a unique opportunity to destroy the company, and her misfortune becomes a new opportunity. Would this insane offer be accepted by someone with a conscience? Not at all! Still, who knows?
