I’m Jira an artist/ illustrator who works under Jirayu Koo name. I enjoy making positive visuals inspired from all things around with bold shapes and colours combination. The roly-poly characters in my work are myself in difference versions and that version of me is always seeking an optimistic side of all matters around. I wanted to celebrate it by creating Glom-Glom characters and tell stories through them. I guess it’s my very personal way of dealing with this hectic world, using a positive thought against the ugliness that get crazier these days. And I really hope that my works may bring joy and smile to if not everyone then some.

NIKE x Jirayu Koo

"Sawasdee" is one of 7 designs I created for NIKE under the concept of Bangkok Jam. To introduce a sense of Bangkok, especially around the vibrant area called Siam.

It is a collaboration project between NIKE and me for the launch of the new biggest Nike flagship store in Thailand. It is the first time NIKE collaborates with Thai artist to produce design products to sell in their store.

Shall We Dance? - Mural painting

A Mural painting project with TAT (Tourism Authority of Thailand) to promote 2nd tier cities in Thailand throughout the Southeast Asia using pop culture like street art, music, etc as a medium.

I wanted my artwork to help waking up Thai people in the 2nd tier cities from their despair and realise what value they actually have in their hometowns. Their own unique cultures, local food, arts, natures that second to none. Usign my Glom-Glom characters to represent a positive side in them. Waking up and holding each other hands and dance happily to celebrate their beloved hometowns as well as welcoming everyone to pay a visit and join the dance.

The actual painting itself wasn’t easy because of the uneven surface, it wasn’t just a plain wall, but a building that has windows, doors, balconies and come in different materials and textures. Thanks to everyone in the team whom helped make it happens in just an amazing 6 days!

BOYY BAG SPRING / SUMMER 2016 CAMPAIGN

‘A Spring Fling’ - 1 of the 6 key visuals I created for BOYY Boutique's Spring / Summer 2016 bag campaign. It was one of the most fun and challenge work I have ever done. Because I didn’t only do paper collage technique as I normally do by using ordinary colour papers available in stationary store. But I did paint all the papers myself in every colours I planned to use for the artworks, finding the right tones was also another fun but not oh so easy task. Also I developed the usual flat collage technique and gave it more playfulness, more depth and also more life I believe. The final stage was new to me too, I have got all the artworks photographed with some serious light setting as I aimed for strong shadows and bold graphic-y feel.
