A Bangkok-based illustrator and monster creator who enjoys bringing her imaginary characters to life. Her work often springs from turning personal interests, feelings, and observations into different kinds of characters, each sprinkled with a pinch of humor and playfulness. She also runs MeMiann Studio, where she introduces her little creations to the world and sells them as illustrated goods.
Thip-Thai Assembled | รวมตัวธิบไทย
Thip-Thai (ธิบไทย) is short for Prachathipathai or ‘democracy.’ They were first created back when it was considered illegal to display the three-finger salute to call out for democracy in Thailand. As a result, each Thip-Thai holds different items in their hand with three fingers pointing up and a bewildered expression on their face because they’re afraid that they might get caught by the police!
This mob of Thip-Thai wants to call out for various social causes from equal marriage (สมรสเท่าเทียม), abolishment of section 112 (ยกเลิก 112) to freeing political prisoners (ปล่อยเพื่อนเรา). All of which are important political movements in Thailand.
Gomi The Lost Monster - Science L.A.B. Edition
‘Gomi’ is a lost monster who made an escape from the L.A.B. by accidentally falling into a trash can that got carried out. In this collection, Gomi just recently fell into a science lab’s trash and look at what they try to imitate! — a dead lab rat, a half-eaten sandwich, an infected virus, a scientist’s torn glove, a very hot pinch clamp, a mutated daisy, a two-headed cow, a jar of eyeballs and even an experiment-gone-wrong kind of monster!
[ This series is part of my NFT project on Opensea. ]
Gomi into the Town of Halloween
Another one of Gomi The Lost Monster collection. This time, Gomi ventured into the town of Halloween and played a little dress up game by turning different kind of trash they could find into costumes of famous ghosts and monsters.
[ This series is also part of my NFT project on Opensea. ]
Kan | แคน
Originally designed to be an art toy, this character has an endless possibility to become whatever they want to be. From a funny clown to a watermelon to a baldy egg... you name it and they ‘kan’ be!
The Magick Plante
The ‘Magick Plante’ or Magical Plant is a group of monsters that was inspired by the spiritual and cultural beliefs about trees, plants and nature from around the world. The collection features a mandrake, weeping willow, garden fairy, lucky clover, Lamb of Tartary (a legendary sheep-bearing plant), Kodama (a Japanese tree spirit), Penghou (a Chinese half-man, half-dog creature that jumped out of a cut tree) and my own version of Tani (a Thai ghost that inhabit in a banana tree) that has turned into a banana!
Babo Wants to GO WILD
A long-necked, confused-looking monster ‘Babo’ is here again! With heavy existential crisis still weighting on their heads (since they don’t really have shoulders) and STILL not knowing who they are or what they want to be, Babo decided that this time they wanted to explore their WILD side by dressing up as… wild (and not-so-wild) animals.
Yak Ter | ยักษ์เธอ
Have you ever felt like you love someone SO MUCH you just wanna swallow them whole!? If you do, then you can definitely relate to this big blue giant!
It’s a play with Thai words: ‘Yak’ (giant) has a similar sound to ‘Rak’ (love) and then there’s ‘Ter’ (you). So Yak Ter is basically “love chu!” เจ้ายักษ์อยากกินใจเธอ :)
The Customiann
A special collaboration project between me - MeMiann Studio - and my customers (hence the name ‘Customiann’). I asked my customers to pick out characters that they like from all 300 designs in my shop. Then, I fused them together and turned them into these 8 new monsters.
The most popular character from this collection is a fluffy Al-pla-ca (อัล ‘ปลา’ ก้า), which is a fusion between an alpaca and a whale shark.
Kwak Kwak | กวัก กวัก
‘Kwak Kwak,’ a lazy monster whose passion is to drink red syrup (น้ำแดง), came up with a genius plan. In order to get free red syrup, Kwak figured they could sit there and raise their hand up to imitate Nang-kwak (นางกวัก) and wahlah~ problem solved! Kwak now gets offered free red syrup from people everyday!
[ Personal note from the artist: My grandmother, who passed away recently, told me this character is one of her favorites. She really loved what I do and she always cheered me up so by submitting this illustration, I feel like she’s right here, rooting for me :-) ]
I don't know what it is, but it is what it is
Sometimes a lot of tragic things happen to you and you can’t help but feel all those things without quite knowing what you’re actually feeling. Everything is all mixed, tangled and becomes an unidentified mess inside you.
‘I don’t know what it is, but it is what it is’ is my own representation of those messes. It was created when I lost two of the most important people in my life in a very short span of time. I had no idea how to process what was going on with me so I just did what I know how to do best - drew, made some mess and let things be.
I know we can be such a mess sometimes but let’s hope we all can at least be a beautiful kind of mess.
BKKIF ARTIST SPECIAL

'MeMiann Studio is where quirky imagination seeps into reality.'
It's not just a brand but rather an entire universe full of fun and oddly(?) adorable characters drawn by a Thai artist 'Memi.' MeMiann Studio exists to tell stories of her imaginary characters through stickers and other illustrated goods such as postcards, keyrings as well as small stationery.
Following the start of MeMiann Studio in 2018, more than 300 monsters have been created and released into the world! Memi has been bringing them along in a journey, participating in many adventurous art markets, not only in Thailand, but also in Singapore, Taiwan and soon to be at South Korea for Seoul Illustration Fair vol.14 :)
Now, let's step into the world of MeMiann Studio to see how each monster lives together in peace (and puns)!
