The Swing
After school playtime, everyone rushing toward the swing. We would try to swing higher and higher until our foot slipped off the seat and our heart stopped. That is the thrill of playing swing.
An Assignment
Children are being taught to follow what the instructions told them to without questioning. I believe these tiny ‘Assignments’ discourages us to become ‘different’.
Going with the Flow
We are born with dream and aspiration, but once we grow up we started to lose those bit by bit and subconsciously blindly living our lives and going with the flow.
Looking Under
This is an extract from my graphic novel. Muay is looking under the construction truck to find that her playground has been demolished.
Ballet Lesson
Ballet lesson is the first time I questioned about my body. Because the ballet dress is fit to size, everyone is able to see my tummy. Many time parents and friends would tease me by saying that I would better play as the rock in Swan-lake show. I doubt myself a lot at the time.
A Way Back Home
Once stepped out of the school, we feel ourselves isolated from the others as if they are living in the different world from us. We used to believe that school is what life is all about, but once stepped outside we realised that we are just tiny part of this large world that we should be able to blend in to.
Running Forward
As children we only look forward and rarely look back. We enjoy the present rather than sticking with the pasts unlike who we might have become now.
Rainy day
Walking back home through traffic jam on the rainy evening
Dipping In
Dipping in with the tip your foot to check whether the sea’s temperature is right before diving in
Blushing
Do you remember the first time you fell in love? A poppy love that makes you blush and want to go to school in everyday.
BKKIF ARTIST SPECIAL
More Artwork/Merchandise:
Muay is the original character from Muay's Diary which is my graphic novel on the story of urbanization and gentrification through local's point of view. Muay is originally made to reflect childhood memory and dream. Her family got an offer to sell the house at a very high price, its their choices whether to leave with money and be the prey of the 'False' Urbanization or stay and gain nothing. Please refer to the 'Buy Now' button for the online version of the novel.
Wiping Your Own Tears
At the end of the day, you realise that you are the strength of yourself and the person who decide whether to be happy or sad.
Life is a Stage
Every step in our lives is the 'Present' like it is a stage. Once it is over it became a past and we only have to know one thing, to always move forward.
Speech Bubble
Children's words are like bubbles. They steadily build those words and opinions up and share it to the world. However, the words are often ignored like the bubble that pops right after it forms a perfect shape and disappear like it has never happened.
Star-Shape Tears
Learning to grow and transformed is learning to accept the vulnerable part of ourselves as well as accepting our own tears.
The View
As a part of Portsmouth’s comic con, I created this art work. Once city people’s window view is filled with tall architecture and the urbanizing city, the alternative way in order to replicate the relaxation of nature is undeniably a simple poster sticking in front of our working table.
Social Media
A page from Muay’s Diary. This page is when Muay scrolls through her social media for entertainment without noticing the problems that the condo is growing, instead she just focus on capitalism’s new product.
Zoo Picture
While Children enjoys what is real and right up front, adults seems to be enjoying the virtual representation of reality. In the end children posing becomes just another content for adults to post on their social media
Looking Under
Muay looking under the construction truck to find that her playground she used to play has already been destroyed.
Shrine Ceremony
Illustration within Muay's Diary. This image depicts various activities happening while the local is praying to the god for the shrine new year's celebration.
Convenient Store
People in the urbanising city relying on convenient stores in different way, but at the same time these convenient store is taking away the lives of local grocery store.
I Cut my Hair because You Don't Care my Heart
Moving on from something requires change. It is like cutting the long hair we have try to grow it for so long. In that second where the finger snap, feeling of worries and relief are mixed and slowly transformed us into another person.
Two World’s Void
Two World’s Void
A gap between my two Original Characters which totally represents the different thing. That is what it feels like when Muay is standing in front of Hunny Bun's entrance to her world.
Dancing Doll
Hunny Bun is a character that is created against Society’s controversial thoughts. Unlike Muay, She represents a group of women who are looked down by society because of the existing norms and belief. In this Artwork, Hunny Bun is dancing with her friend in a music box. Rabbit girls are always there as an entertainment. Nicely decorated, but stuck in a space and a loop.
A Choice to Choose
Vending Machine as a representation of the limited choices, but at the same time someone’s chance to be free.
