3. Author’s Note
1-1. Ideal World
I aimed to discuss an ideal world by guilelessly assimilating with the objet.
Objets of a place bear traces of human desire. I archive these objets in an organized form that can be copied. Based on archived materials, a ‘new story’ is created and embodied in a shape that captures the sense of place.
The world of a ‘New Story’ is a virtual world that reflects reality. I seek to visualize an ideal world by projecting the contradictions and issues of the real world onto that world.
1-2. Kino and Friends
Kino and friends are virtual characters created to communicate the ideal world.
Because they were created to discuss an ideal world by projecting the contradictions and issues of the real world onto the inner world, they are embodied in the form of infants whose identity is in flux.
1-3. Dancing Light Showers
Drawing numerous invisible, living rays of light.
Although they are invisible to the naked eye, numerous microorganisms exist around us.
I aim to communicate an ideal world by expressing the dynamic moments of living rays of light along with microorganisms.
1-4. The Heart Box
Facing the world through an objet called a ‘box’.
Instead of a world full of contradictions and issues, I aim to project, and communicate ideas about, an ideal world onto an objet called a ‘box’. The space in the box provides room for an ideal world, and it is this space that contains the thoughts I want to convey.
I aim to outline the ideal world through the mind contained in space.
1-5. Containing place
I would like to discuss an ideal place with the theme of 'place' being erased and created by humans.
I gain inspiration from places where human life has accumulated to create place-specific art.
The purpose of creating the place-specific art is to view place as a space of human desire and a space of life.
Place-specific art is created in two forms.
The first creates art, based on archived materials such as ‘photos, text, and video’, in an organized form that can be replicated.
The second form embodies one’s own emotions that cannot be replicated. The materials of the realized work are thus unlimited.
I raise the topic through these two types of place-specific art.
“Is it right for us to create capital from the traces of time and erase them for human desires?” |
