I am Punyapat Kloywong, also known by my pen name, Blob Card. As a creative designer with a deep passion for illustration, I began drawing seriously as a hobby in 2013. Initially driven by a dream to become a renowned illustrator, I pushed myself to find a unique style, which led to frustration and burnout. Eventually, I gave up the pursuit of fame in illustration, only to discover that my true happiness lies simply in the act of drawing itself.

Today, I embrace a mindset of experimentation and growth, focusing on learning techniques that allow me to effectively communicate my ideas. My work is no longer confined to a single style; instead, it evolves based on the concept I am exploring. I experiment with both handmade and digital art, continuously trying out techniques I have never attempted before.

For my submission to the Bangkok Illustration Fair 2024, I have selected pieces that represent my exploration of psychedelic art, blending this with other techniques. I also include works born from my continuous experimentation with different mediums and approaches, showcasing the diversity and versatility of my artistic journey.

The Quirkly Crew

"The Quirkly Crew" is a lively collection of eccentric characters inspired by people I’ve encountered in my life. Each figure is a vibrant and exaggerated representation of the memories and feelings tied to these individuals, captured through a playful mix of color, pattern, and form. Using a quirky abstract character art style, these illustrations embrace bold shapes and unconventional proportions, infusing each character with personality and energy. The project celebrates the uniqueness of human connections, blending surrealism with pop-art influences to create a joyful, eccentric world of colorful memories.

MEOW Mystique

"Meow Mystique" is a surreal exploration of self-worth and identity, portrayed through the metaphor of mirrors that reflect our inner spirit in different environments. The black cat, a symbol of intuition and mystery, represents the unchanging essence of the soul, which reflects back differently in each unique setting. Using psychedelic surrealism, this piece blends abstract forms, bold colors, and intricate patterns to illustrate the complexity of self-perception. As each mirror presents a new facet of the self, the artwork reminds us that while our surroundings may influence how we see ourselves, our core spirit remains constant and ever-present.

Polka POP People

"Polka POP People" is a series of modern pop portraits that capture the essence of people who hold deep importance in my life. Through a bold and abstract visual language, each portrait tells a story of connection, encapsulating the unique energy of the individual. Using the modern pop portraiture style, I blend vibrant colors, playful patterns, and minimalistic forms to express the emotions tied to these relationships. The juxtaposition of simple forms with rich colors brings each subject to life, showcasing how even the simplest moments with important people leave lasting impressions.

Portraits of JOY

"Portraits of Joy" is a series of vibrant, personalized portraits created to celebrate important moments in the lives of the subjects. Using a whimsical pop portraiture style, these illustrations are filled with bold colors, playful patterns, and exaggerated facial expressions that capture the essence of joy. Each portrait serves as a unique gift, embodying the special connection between the artist and the recipient. The bright, cheerful aesthetic not only highlights the individuality of the subjects but also reflects the joyful occasions being commemorated, making these portraits a timeless celebration of happiness and human connection.

Fragments of Memory

"Fragments of Memory" is a mixed-media journey through pivotal life moments, where reality meets imagination. Using a blend of surreal collage portraiture, this project combines photographs with abstract illustrations to create a visual diary of significant events. Each piece tells a story—sometimes clear, sometimes fragmented—reflecting the way we experience and remember life's milestones. The collages capture not just the events but the emotional and psychological layers that accompany them, inviting viewers to explore the complexity of memory and personal history through a bold, innovative artistic lens.

Vivid Echoes

"Vivid Echoes" is a visual journey through the landscape of personal memories, capturing moments that have left a lasting emotional imprint. Using a style I call psychedelic memory illustration, this series embraces bold, contrasting colors and surreal, abstract forms to express how memories are often more than just snapshots—they are vibrant, emotional experiences that blur the lines between reality and imagination. Each illustration reflects not just the memory itself, but the feelings and subconscious impressions tied to it, creating a kaleidoscopic portrayal of how we hold onto our most impactful moments.

Learning in Bloom

"Learning in Bloom" reimagines home spaces as dynamic, creative environments that foster education and community-building. Using a whimsical educational illustration style, this project combines soft, calming colors with playful characters and designs to illustrate how even the smallest corner of a home can be transformed into a space for discovery. Through thoughtful design, the project encourages families to create environments that promote curiosity, collaboration, and a love for learning, making education a natural, integrated part of everyday life. The illustrations highlight how personal spaces can blossom into hubs of knowledge, nurturing both young minds and community engagement.

Grill & Thrill

"Grill & Thrill" brings the world of street food to life with a whimsical twist. Using a style called playful food branding, this project transforms the experience of eating grilled pork into an adventurous visual story. With cartoonish characters interacting with oversized food elements, the illustrations capture the dynamic energy of street food culture. The vibrant, fun visuals invite customers to engage with the brand on a deeper level, making every meal feel like an exciting and delicious journey. Each piece of food becomes part of a playful narrative, reinforcing the idea that great food is not just about taste—it's about the joy of the experience.

Layers of Creativity

"Layers of Creativity" is an illustration project that merges nature with art, using nature-inspired paper craft illustration techniques. Inspired by the lush forests of Bang Khun Thian, this project uses intricate paper cutting and layering to create a sense of depth and texture, mirroring the complexity and beauty of the natural world. Designed for a media arts department brochure, the artwork represents the intertwining of nature and creativity, showing how art, like the forest, grows in layers—each one adding to the richness of knowledge and innovation. This piece serves as a visual metaphor for how education and the environment nurture growth in the creative arts.

Layered Identities

"Layered Identities" is a mixed-media portrait project that merges traditional and modern techniques to create vibrant, textured representations of its subjects. Using mixed media portrait collage techniques, the project overlays hand-painted elements onto printed images, creating a fusion of styles that reflects the complexity of identity and self-expression. Each portrait tells a story of both heritage and individuality, with the juxtaposition of print and paint symbolizing the blending of past and present. The layered textures invite viewers to explore the depth of each piece, capturing not just the likeness of the subject but the emotions, memories, and culture that shape their identity.
