I'm Nicha, and my artist alias is noirphetamine. I am a digital illustrator and fashion illustration instructor at a fashion design school in Bangkok. My work is mainly inspired by the gothic scene, Gothic Lolita subculture and Visual-kei or Japanese glam rock fashion. I want to create my own world of modern Dark Romanticism characters, combining fashion subcultures that I love growing up with manga illustrations.

bad hearts

"Bad Hearts" is my Valentines card and merchandise from 2023. I like to play with the idea of having objects of love and sarcasm in small details, such as the symbolism of the three of swords (in tarot represents heartbreak and grief), bruises and thorns, heart candies and poisonous animals.

lovecore death

My original character "Death the magical girl" is the combination of the grim reaper and Japanese "Yami-Kawaii" style (translated to "dark and cute"), also inspired by the popular genre of "Mahou-Shoujo" or magical girls manga, but making it my own darker version of it —what's a better way than making her death itself?

bloodhound

From my years of fashion study, I have grown to particularly love leather works. Designing in leather and metal gives out very interesting texture, and I would try to capture the uniqueness of it in most of my illustrations. The idea of this piece is the fashion that is merging the boundaries between creatures and human.

les fleurs du mal

Because flowers may be the only thing that can be given to both the loved and the dead, and that envelopes the concept of dark romanticism. I chose two opposite flowers; the lovers' roses and the poisonous deadly nightshades, to represent both the sorrow of love and the beauty in death, blurring the boundaries between the two.

spire

The original character Ayasa, was created because I wanted to have a model for Visual-Kei clothing design, which is a very flamboyant and androgynous style. I like exploring classical gothic elements and see what I can do by merging them with my illustrations.

fragile

When something is damaged within, we will fight claws and fangs to built protection for what is left. Our trauma doesn't make us stronger. We are forced to made stronger by ourselves because we just learned to be more protective. The question is, how far is someone willing to risk for your glass heart?

epiphany

My love for gothic and rock scene also leads me to another interest which is the art of tattooing and tattoo illustrations. I love to combine fashion illustration with tattoo works, ornamental frames and classical gothic elements. The concept behind this piece is modern alternative goth fashion with the composition of Mater Dolorosa or The Lady of Sorrows.

carousel mortis

"Playground for the dead" is my series of illustrations and merchandise in the theme of horror amusement park, haunted dolls and creepy circus. The main idea is the art of Victorian mourning meets the doll-like cuteness of Gothic Lolita fashion.

the wraith of dreams

Inspired by the gothic poems of Segovia Amil and Neil Gaiman's "Dream" from The Sandman, this piece is a personification of the nightmare and her creatures, being captured in webs of a dreamcatcher, with hidden trinkets related sleep, dreams and good luck.

datura

Named after a poisonous white flower, the Devil's Trumpets, Datura is half vampire and half human. Because of that, she isn‘t afraid of crosses and still enjoys her reflection. I created Datura for more light-hearted jokes about stereotypical vampires and parody on the horror classics. From the very gloomy castles and coffins, B-positive!
