I am a graphic designer and illustrator who uses a variety of methods and styles to tell stories. Most of my work involves designing book covers. I enjoy brutally challenging myself to create covers that best convey the story within the book. It’s always a fortunate experience to peek into someone else’s mind, understand their story, and translate it. However, diving back into my own mind, becoming absorbed, and expressing it through personal projects is equally satisfying.

52 Hertz Whale, Taiwanese edition

The book tells the story of isolated characters, comparing them to the whale whose sound frequency is so off that it cannot communicate with other whales in the vast ocean. The content conveys a profound sense of loneliness, yet it is not overwrought, incorporating moments of consolation throughout. The cover design aims to fully convey this feeling by featuring a whale prominently, floating separately from the background. The wave bubbles overlap both the sea and non-sea elements, creating an effect where it seems like two images are happening simultaneously, leaving uncertainty about which one is real and which is imagined.

Someone Who Will Love You in All Your Damaged Glory

The book intensely explores the pain of human relationships in the modern world, but through a biting and humorous writing style that creates a unique blend and makes it special. Therefore, the cover needed to reflect this mix as well. The cover features a serious tone with a Bittersweet flower growing out of a broken heart, while vibrant colors and an unstructured placement of the title typography add a touch of contrast, preventing the mood from leaning too far in one direction and captures attention with the same tone as the content.

Wagashi no Anne

和菓子のアン

The book tells the story of a wagashi shop employee who must decipher the secrets of customers through the meanings of the sweets they purchase. While reading, I felt a warm, light-hearted, and simple enjoyment. Therefore, I aimed to convey these feelings on the cover by incorporating elements of the secret-solving highlights into the background pattern. This approach is intended to make the overall design easily understandable, quickly communicative, yet still intriguing.

Salon de Holmes

The content focuses on a group of housewives in South Korea who come together to investigate a criminal case. Therefore, the cover design should blend elements of intense investigative drama with the narrative of housewives who have long lived in a subordinate role to men, both in society and at home, to the point of being almost accustomed to it. The flower garden in the background is designed as a textured embroidery, adding a feminine touch to the cover without compromising the book's dark and heavy tone.

Wave of Loneliness, Otsuichi

The content consists of four short stories, each depicting loneliness in a different yet similar way. The best part of reading this book isn't any single story, but rather the experience of reading all the stories together. Therefore, I felt it would be a shame to describe this book with just one image. The cover features four images, each representing a different short story. Each image portrays loneliness and solitude in its own unique way, intentionally designed to work together as one cohesive picture.

The End of One Thing is the Beginning of Something New

The sun is the most powerful force in the world. It is the largest source of energy in the universe. Yet, its daily disappearance holds an even greater significance. The sun departs from the sky each day with grace and without hesitation, and every time it returns, it means the beginning of a new day and it drives the world to move again.

I believe this image is the best for conveying the title of the book. Moreover, I am confident that everyone will get this deep meaning at a very first glance. since understanding the power of the sun is part of human nature.

Dreams, How Did They Begin? (1)

[Personal project] Dreams—where, when, and how did they begin? I asked myself this question on a day when my dreams, which I usually hold so tightly, seemed so far away. I felt as if I had been chasing them for so long, but when did they first come into existence? Who put it into my head, and why does it have to be this specific dream? Did it come into being on its own, suddenly having such an overwhelming power in that first moment, like the birth of life? Or like a fire suddenly igniting in the darkness?

I couldn’t find the answer, but I rose and translated that heavy question and feeling into images.

A Dog Licking Its Wounds

[Personal project] That dog represents all of us.

A Conversation

[Personal project] The conversation behind the curtain—are they lovers? Friends? Is it a whisper of love, a heated argument, or a farewell? Of course, it's a secret.
