My name is YONIAM, an illustrator originally from Bangkok, Thailand. I love collecting charming moments from my surroundings, adorable people and nostalgic buildings—and retelling them in a delightful way through playful colors, shapes, and forms.

Lately, I’ve become more drawn to old buildings and the way people live around them. That interest began with the old town in my hometown, SINGBURI, where I started sketching and studying buildings from the past. Through this project, I hope to reconnect with the place where I came from.

In My Hometown SINGBURI

เพราะความชอบในอาคารเก่า ทุกครั้งที่เจอจึงหยิบดินสอมาวาดเก็บไว้ ภาพชุดนี้เป็นอาคารเก่าในจังหวัดสิงห์บุรีบ้านเกิด บางหลังยังคงอยู่และบอกเล่าอดีตของเมือง ขณะที่บางหลังก็หายไปตามกาลเวลา

Because of my deep love for old buildings, whenever I encounter one, I am eager to draw it. This picture depicts an old building from Singburi Province, my own hometown. Some of these buildings still stand, preserving tales of the past, while others are slowly fading away with the passage of time.

Old Town and Space

ร้านยานี้ตั้งอยู่ในใจกลางจังหวัดสิงห์บุรี เปิดให้บริการมานานหลายสิบปี ตัวร้านยังคงเอกลักษณ์ไว้ครบ ทั้งเคาน์เตอร์ไม้โค้งมนและเก้าอี้ไม้แบบคลาสสิก ทุกครั้งที่เดินผ่าน ฉันมักเผลอคิดเล่นๆ ว่าถ้าร้านนี้ไปตั้งอยู่ที่อื่น เช่น ในอวกาศ มันอาจจะดูเหนือจริง แต่ก็เป็นความคิดสนุกที่ทำให้เราเชื่อมโยงกับเมืองในมุมใหม่

This pharmacy, located in downtown Singburi, has been around for decades. With its curved wooden counter and matching vintage chairs, the store retains its original charm. Every time I pass by, I wonder, what if this place existed somewhere else? The first place that comes to mind is outer space. It’s a surreal thought, but also a fun way to reimagine how we connect with familiar places.

Old Town and the Corner

ตึกเก่าหลังนี้ตั้งอยู่ตรงหัวมุมในตัวเมืองสิงห์บุรี เป็นที่ตั้งของโรงแรมเก่าและร้านทำฟันที่อยู่มานาน เป็นตึกที่โดดเด่นและคุ้นตา เหมือนเป็นจุดต้อนรับทุกครั้งที่เรากลับเข้าสู่เมือง

This prominent corner building in downtown Singburi houses an old hotel and a long-standing dental clinic. It’s the kind of landmark you can’t miss, it greets you every time you enter the city.

Old Town and Fragile

ตึกหลังนี้มีรูปทรงสถาปัตยกรรมที่โดดเด่นสะดุดตา ตั้งอยู่ใจกลางเมือง ชั้นล่างคือร้านขายหนังสือและสิ่งพิมพ์ชื่อว่า “ร้านไพศาล” ที่เปิดมาตั้งแต่ฉันยังเด็ก แม้วันนี้ยังคงอยู่ แต่ก็ไม่อาจรู้ได้ว่าจะอยู่อีกนานแค่ไหน สิ่งเดียวที่ทำได้คือวาดเก็บไว้ เหมือนห่อมันไว้ด้วยกระดาษกันกระแทก เพื่อปกป้องจากการเลือนหายไปตามกาลเวลา

This distinctive building in Singburi catches the eye with its unique architecture. On the ground floor is “Paisan,” a small newsstand selling weekly magazines and books, a place I’ve known since childhood. I don’t want to see it disappear one day, but there’s little I can do, other than to draw it… and imagine wrapping it up like something fragile.

Old Town and Woodwood

“โรงไม้นายพวง” เป็นร้านขายไม้เก่าแก่ของจังหวัดสิงห์บุรี จุดที่สะดุดตาที่สุดคือหน้าต่างและกรอบระเบียงทรงเหลี่ยมที่เรียงรายอย่างเป็นระเบียบกลางถนน

This is “Mai Nai Phuang,” a well-known timber shop in Singburi. What drew me in was the perfect rhythm of its square windows and balconies, all lined up like a wooden symphony in the middle of town.

Old Town and Lock

This small hardware shop, “Ngun Khun Iam,” has been part of Singburi’s streetscape for decades. Packed floor to ceiling with tools, wires, nails—and of course, all kinds of locks, it feels like a place where everything is quietly kept in place. Among the rusty drawers and faded signage, I found a strange sense of security.
It’s as if time here is gently locked away, waiting for those who know how to look.

“ร้านงุ่นคุนเอี่ยม” เป็นร้านขายอุปกรณ์ช่างเก่าแก่ของสิงห์บุรี เต็มไปด้วยสว่าน ลวด ตะปู ไปจนถึงแม่กุญแจหลากหลายแบบ แม้ร้านจะเล็กและเก่า แต่กลับให้ความรู้สึกมั่นคง เหมือนทุกอย่างถูกจัดวางไว้ในที่ของมัน ท่ามกลางลิ้นชักสนิมเกาะและป้ายเก่าที่ซีดจาง ฉันกลับรู้สึกถึงความปลอดภัยอย่างประหลาด ราวกับว่า เวลา ในร้านนี้ถูกล็อกไว้อย่างเงียบๆ

Old Town and สีมรกต

หัวเสาร์สีม่วงทรงย้อนยุคนี้ ตั้งอยู่ในร้าน ข้าวหมูแดงสีมรกต เจ้าอร่อย ไปกินที่ร้านนี้หลายครั้งแต่ทุกครั้งก็ก้มหน้าก้มตากิน ไม่ได้มองขึ้นไปบ้างบนเลย ดีใจที่ได้มองเห็นและได้วาดเก็บไว้ เป็นการเจอกันที่ไม่ได้ตั้งใจแต่ประทับใจมากๆ

This curved, vintage-style purple pillar stands quietly inside the well-loved rice-and-roast-pork shop “Si Morakot.” Though I had visited the place many times, I never once looked up, my eyes fixed only on the food. Until one day, I did. And there it was. A quiet encounter that left a lasting impression. Some beauty, it seems, waits patiently in places we rarely look.

Old Town and the Windows of Song Wat

ทรงวาดเป็นย่านเก่าของกรุงเทพฯ ที่เต็มไปด้วยอาคารเก่าสารพัดแบบ หนึ่งในองค์ประกอบที่ฉันชอบที่สุดคือ “หน้าต่าง” หน้าต่างแต่ละบานในย่านนี้ดูจะมีบุคลิกเป็นของตัวเอง ทั้งรูปทรง รายละเอียด และร่องรอยของเวลา ดีใจที่ตึกเหล่านี้ยังคงอยู่ และดีใจที่ฉันได้บันทึกหน้าต่างเหล่านี้ไว้ในภาพวาดอีกแรง

Song Wat is one of Bangkok’s old districts, filled with a patchwork of aged buildings. What fascinates me most are the windows, each one with its own personality, shape, and aging detail. They seem to whisper stories from different times. I’m grateful these buildings are still here, and that I get to preserve them in my own way, through drawing.

In the spice-laden district of Song Wat, commerce and movement are everywhere.
One day, I paused to watch a man push a fruit cart past an old wooden house, part storage, part mystery. It felt like a passing scene from a quiet film. So I kept it, and reimagined it, turning a fleeting moment into a new composition on paper.

The Chairs Of Song Wat

เดินในย่านทรงวาดไปสักพัก จะเริ่มสังเกตเห็น “เก้าอี้” เก้าอี้ธรรมดาๆ ที่ไม่ต่างจากที่อื่นนัก แต่เมื่ออยู่ในย่านนี้ พวกมันกลับดูมีชีวิตขึ้นมา เก้าอี้บางตัวเก่าจนเหมือนเติบโตมาพร้อมกับบ้าน คน และถนน เหมือนกลายเป็นสมาชิกเงียบๆ ของบ้านที่ควรได้รับการรู้จัก

After walking through Song Wat, there are still plenty of materials to work with one of them being ‘chairs’ These chairs might not be different from those found elsewhere, but once they are, In Song Wat, it’s as if they’ve grown up with this street. They’ve grown alongside the elderly uncles and aunts, the houses, the shops until they’ve become members of the home, worthy of getting to know.
