Anestis Mavrommatis Parasidis is a self taught artist. He was born in 1994 in Thessaloniki (Greece). In 2012 he started creating illustrations and comics. Since then, he has taken part in numerous exhibitions and festivals around Greece and Europe.

He has self-published two comic books, "Inner Forest" (2021) and "Flies" (2023). In 2022 "Inner Forest" was awarded as the best illustrated self-published comic book and in 2023 "Flies" as the best self-published comic book, both from Chaniartoon International Comics & Animation Festival.

Anestis is passionate about fantastic worlds and imaginary creatures. Among other things, he loves sketching jesters, grotesque daemons, gnomes, frogs and mushrooms. He loves wandering around forests and collecting illustrated books and comics.

Someone loves you but you don't know it...

A night traveller under the moonlight. This illustration was created after listening repeatedly a song called ''To Hrisalifourfouro'' made for the music album and ground-breaking radio show for children ''Edo Lilipoupoli''. Due to the delicate diligence of the great Greek composer Manos Hadjidakis, this album became one of the most iconic albums in Greece, accompanying many generations of kids after the 80's. ''Someone loves you but you don't know it...'' was created as a farewell to my dear Miss Eirini.

With flags and tambours

Frogs are walking demanding a better world, with flags and tambours. Will they make it?

The Frog's Ritual

What are these fellows doing there, under the shadow of a fly agaric mushroom? Have you ever been a part of frog's ritual? Strange things indeed!

Daruma and frogs

This illustration is the first piece of a series I'm currently working on, based on artworks made by my favourite Japanese artists. After a long trip to Japan, I decided to create this series, in order to celebrate and communicate my passion for one of the greatest inspirations for me, the ukiyo-e and its effect to Japanese art. This specific one refers to a sketch made by Katsushika Hokusai (Hokusai Manga). A Daruma doll took the place of a terrifying gigantic octopus, and the original two fishermen transformed into frogs. Let's see if this grumpy face will bring them some good luck.

Who said gnomes are always nice?

''Who said gnomes are always nice?'' is the second illustration I did for my new project in which I rephrase (less or more) popular works of Japanese artists, adding creatures or textures I love. This one is based on a sketch made by the amazing Toshio Saeki. The situation doesn't look good! Right?

The over-thinking Gnome

Think think think or just stop thinking!
This character is the first of four gnomes in total, I illustrated from January to October in 2023. Are you also into gnomes and dwarves?

Have a small basket with you... he was told!

Again an illustration from what I call, my mini gnome series.
The tittle comes from a Greek phrase which is similar with the British expression ''don't count your chickens before they are hatched''. The use of this tittle is ironic, cause our fellow listened to this advice and now he cannot fix his find inside his basket cause it's to big for it.

Everything is gonna be fine!

The last piece of the series I did with gnomes.
We all have a person next to whom we feel safe and loved. Sometimes all we need is a pair of warm hands and a kind heart. I think that this butterfly found one!

Magic Shrooms (page 1)

''Magic Shrooms'' is a silent comic of just 2 pages, made for the annual comics exhibition and catalogue of Comic n' Play Festival in Thessaloniki, Greece. In this brief tale mushrooms and wizards are combined with an unexpected outcome.

Your illustrations have a sense of fantasy and mystery, and they make me really want to see your comic book.
