Hello, I’m Maki, the artist behind Captain Mozmo.

I create multidisciplinary works across illustration, fine art, and art toys, all connected through an original universe centered on Mozmo.

Mozmo represents the inner child that quietly exists within all of us. Through this character, I explore the emotional experience of growing up in a reality that often drifts away from the dreams we once had as children.

The story takes place in Mindmade, a parallel world born from the human mind, where emotions and thoughts take physical form. In this world, Mozmo appears as a rare spirit that embodies innocence, curiosity, imagination, and hope.
At the heart of my work lies one question:Do we still need our inner child in today’s world?

The Wonder Within

This artwork explores the idea of protecting the inner child hidden beneath the layers of expectations, responsibilities, and identities we develop as we grow.
By shedding these outer layers, Mozmo reveals the wonder and innocence that still exist within. Guarding this inner child is Sediento, the Demon of Desire, who represents humanity’s endless ambition, longing, and drive. Desire can become ego when left unchecked, but when embraced with awareness, it transforms into a powerful force that protects our dreams and guides us toward our true selves.
This piece suggests that desire is not an enemy, but a guardian when we learn to master it.

Captain Mozmo’s Journey

Captain Mozmo is the main character of the Mindmade universe. Although he appears innocent and childlike, he embarks on a journey filled with challenges, uncertainty, and personal growth.
This artwork represents the beginning of his adventure—a journey of courage, curiosity, and resilience. Through every obstacle he faces, Captain Mozmo continues to move forward while holding onto the imagination and hope that define his inner child.
The piece reflects the idea that growing up does not mean losing innocence. Instead, it is about carrying that child within us as we navigate the complexities of life.

Where time won’t Return

This artwork reflects the feeling of longing for someone or something that can never be returned to. As we grow older, we learn one of life’s most difficult truths: not everything lasts forever, and time never turns back.
The world continues to move forward, while memories remain quietly preserved in the objects we keep close to our hearts. Among them is rosemary, a symbol of remembrance and enduring love, reminding us that true love can continue to exist even when we are no longer together.
This piece is about accepting the passage of time, cherishing memories, and discovering that love can remain long after a goodbye.

A World Through Headphones

This artwork is inspired by my daily journeys home during my school years. Wherever I traveled, my headphones were always with me, becoming a quiet companion on every bus and train ride.
Listening to music while watching the world pass by felt like stepping into another dimension, where each song transformed the ordinary scenery into a world shaped by my own emotions and imagination. It was a brief escape—a space where I could truly be myself, free from expectations and responsibilities.
For me, these moments became a small sanctuary between destinations, a chance to rest my heart, clear my mind, and simply exist until it was time to continue the journey.

When the World Stood Still

This artwork expresses the desire to hold onto the imagination and innocence of childhood. As we grow older, the realities of life gradually reshape the way we think, often leaving less room for wonder and fantasy.
There are moments when I wish the world would stop turning, allowing childhood to last just a little longer. Not because I fear growing up, but because I don’t want to lose the imagination that has always been a part of who I am.
This piece is a reminder that growing older should not mean letting go of the child within. Imagination is not something we outgrow—it is something worth protecting throughout our lives.

One More Coin

This artwork uses a coin-operated playground ride as a metaphor for pursuing dreams. As children, we insert a coin to enjoy a brief moment of happiness, always wishing the ride could last a little longer.
Growing up, I realized that life works in much the same way. Every dream requires something in return—whether it is money, time, effort, or sacrifice. Nothing comes without a cost, yet we continue to move forward because those moments of fulfillment make the journey worthwhile.
This piece reflects the idea that chasing our dreams always asks for something in exchange, but the experiences and joy we gain along the way are often worth the price.

I Am Not a Machine

This artwork reflects a moment of exhaustion and realization. In a world that constantly demands productivity and competition, I pushed myself too hard until I eventually lost my creative energy and sense of imagination.
I came to understand that I am not a machine. Like all human beings, I need rest. I need to pause, to let time pass without pressure, and to allow myself to simply exist.
In this piece, Mozmo is seen resting peacefully, leaving behind a wound-up mechanism that symbolizes constant work and expectation. It represents the decision to stop forcing productivity and to reclaim balance.

Leap of the Unknown

This artwork is inspired by The Fool tarot card, a symbol of innocence, courage, and the beginning of a journey without certainty.
The Fool is often seen as naïve or foolish, yet it represents the purest form of bravery—the willingness to step forward without knowing what lies ahead. There is no map, no guarantee, and no promise of success, only trust in the path and the desire to move forward.
This piece reflects that moment of decision: to embrace uncertainty, to accept differences, and to continue walking despite not knowing the outcome. It is a reminder that every great journey begins with a single fearless step into the unknown.

The Candle Keepers

This artwork was created from a simple fascination with a candlestick form. Without a predefined concept, I allowed the piece to develop intuitively, following instinct rather than narrative planning.
Three small spirit-like monsters appear within the composition, each associated with a different flame: yellow, red, and green. They exist not as a defined story, but as quiet presences—almost like guardians or wandering spirits inhabiting the object.
This piece embraces spontaneity and instinct in the creative process, allowing meaning to emerge naturally rather than being strictly defined from the beginning.

Mozmo – The Remnant of the Heart

Mozmo is an original art toy character created as a reminder of the inner child and the human heart that still exists within us. In a world that often conditions people to become emotionally detached in order to avoid pain, Mozmo represents the belief that maintaining a sense of feeling is still essential to being human.
This new version of Mozmo reflects a transformation caused by confrontation with reality. Parts of its body have been consumed by the harshness of the world, symbolized by the loss of an arm. However, what was lost has not simply disappeared—it has regenerated into flowers, representing growth born from pain.
The flowers symbolize resilience and transformation: even after being wounded by reality, one can still grow into something more beautiful and meaningful. Mozmo becomes a reminder that vulnerability is not weakness, but a source of life and renewal.
