Oleng & Co. is a newly launched Malaysian lifestyle brand built around Udam — a Malayan Sun Bear who moves through life slowly, embrace ‘lying flat’ while still keen to explore.
We didn't start as everyone's favorite brand, but we creating for the people who see Malaysia in her unique way.
Our work is rooted in Malaysian specificity, we want to make craft that we love, define our own comfort space and share meaningful conversation through our works.
Udam's Universe is a life in slow motion — and we think the world needs more of that. This is for the explorers who love local soul, stand up for our believes, and aren’t afraid to be a little bit “weird”.
Oleng & Co. currently produces apparel, totes, lifestyle accessories and art prints, with an ongoing Old Shop Series documenting disappearing Malaysian shophouses.

Rush Hour

Poster -
A KL intersection at peak hour — Rapid KL bus, Grab riders, Myvi, motorcycles, Speedmart in the background. Udam missed his bus again, inspired from my personal experience when I was an intern newly came to this city. Based on the real streets of Jalan Alor and Pudu, Kuala Lumpur.

Me-ow Time Supper

Poster -
Udam attempts a quiet supper at a night hawker stall — Oleng Burger, teh ais ikat tepi, nasi lemak. Cats arrive uninvited and claim the table. A Malaysian truth: the cats were always there first.

"Poh Hoe Tong"

Poster -
Growing up in a traditional Chinese medicine shop. Little Udam, school bag on his back, reaches toward the candy jars on the counter. Behind the counter, grandfather watches quietly. He always knew, he just let him have the candy anyway. Based on a real shop and a real memory, probably one of my most personal attached artwork.

Fellow Yogis

Poster -
Udams attempt yoga with varying degrees of commitment. Yoga is not a as simple as it sees, most of the time we just pass out in on mat during end of class. But life goes on, the practice continues regardless.

I Wanna Bangkok

Poster -
Udam stands at a Bangkok street corner. A tuk-tuk idles beside him. A dog sleeps nearby, unbothered. My personal favorite land to visit, some destinations choose you before you choose them.

Life is better with Sambal

Manifesto -
Udam constructs bamboo scaffolding around a giant nasi lemak wrapped in banana leaf — working methodically on something that will be unwrapped and eaten in minutes. Malaysia's national dish, treated with the seriousness it deserves. Life is better with sambal.

Life needs a little sweet burden

Manifesto -
Udam climbs a towering roti tissue cone dripping with condensed milk. The mountain is sweet. The climb is still exhausting. 人生需要點甜蜜負擔 — life needs a little sweet burden.

Udam Herbal Syrup

Manifesto -
Oleng & Co. Udam Herbal Syrup — made in Kuala Lumpur. Endorsing something we grew up with. Tastes like childhood, in a most delightful way.

Udam Balm

Manifesto -
A parody of the iconic tiger balm packaging — except Udam is riding the tiger. Penawar terbaik untuk semua sakit, kecuali sakit hati. The best remedy for all pain, except heartache.

Udam Pills

Manifesto -
The original Malaysian Chinese household supplement, growing up in Malaysia household, we always had a bottle for everything. 到底吃下去的是藥丸,還是生活給的酸甜苦辣 — in the end, is it the pill you're swallowing, or everything life has put you through?
