Ryuki Mizuno was born in Tokyo, Japan in 1995 and currently lives and works in Kyoto. While staying in Chile in 2018, he began painting as inspired by the local environment.
Distilling the complexities of daily life, he seeks to remind the viewer — and himself — that it is okay to leave spaces, allowing an appreciation of quiet moments in a fast-paced life. This reflects “yohaku” aesthetics found in Japanese culture, and shows how it manifests anywhere in the world. Since returning to Japan, he has found expression through appreciation of daily life with painting, drawing, and collage, depicting scenes from his travels within and outside Japan.
