The Taste of Childhood Memory #1 / Bittersweet

When I was young, my mom always had a clever little trick for making me swallow bitter medicine — she'd hold up the bright, colorful packaging and tell me it was candy that would make me strong. It wasn't until I grew up that I realized... that was never candy at all.

The Taste of Childhood Memory #3 / Smooth as Milk

I'd always get White Rabbit candy as a souvenir whenever my relatives came back from Shanghai. Its dreamy, sweet taste had me imagining what Shanghai was like — was it beautiful there? Were the people kind?

Swirls & Swans

Small, personal moments — like wanting to picnic alone in the park. Fresh air, clear sky, sunlight melting into the water's surface, swans happily paddling along. Moments so lovely I just had to capture them in my sketchbook.

Tokyo at a Slow Pace #4 / Kuro

Kuro is the onsen's resident cat.
She likes to sleep all day,
and when she wakes up, she loves hiding in the dark
and playing with a red yarn ball, all by herself.

Tokyo at a Slow Pace #3 / Steam & Stillness

One of my favorite Tokyo moments from last year:
the after-onsen glow.

All my stress and fatigue just melted away.
My muscles feel so loose and relaxed.

I feel melty and lazy —
just like the little bonsai sitting out front of the onsen.

Tokyo at a Slow Pace #1 Fu-Fu, Slow Life in Hot Spring

The countdown begins in Tokyo,
I escape the noise here,
And start my "new year, new me" theory there.

quiet~

Most shops in Tokyo are closed for the long New Year holiday.
So I let everything slow down —
just wandering around, craving nothing but an onsen.

The Portrait of Yin and Yang

Yin and Yang are my rabbit friends —
so different from each other,
yet living together, perfectly happy.
